Unemployment down in March

Results of the Labour Force Survey conducted by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that in March 2023 the actual unemployment rate in Latvia was 6.8 % and compared to February it had reduced by 0.2 percentage points.

The unemployment rate among men fell by 0.3 percentage points to 8.8 % and among women by 0.1 percentage points to 4.8 %.

The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (SEA) constituted 6.0 % and since February it has reduced by 0.3 percentage points. Compared to March 2022, actual unemployment rate has gone down by 0.3 percentage points and registered by 0.8 percentage points.

In March 2023 there were 65.0 thousand unemployed persons in Latvia (23.1 thousand women and 42.0 thousand men), which is a downturn of 1.5 thousand over both the month and the year. Over the month, the number of unemployed men fell by 1.1 thousand and of unemployed women by 0.3 thousand.
