A new section on the website cilveksnevisdiagnoze.lv has been created under the auspices of Welfare Ministry to give an opportunity for disabled people to participate in the labor market, Latvian Radio reported May 6.

Job seekers can create a profile, specify their skills, work experience, education, and disability.

More than 64,000 of all 107,000 disabled people of working age in Latvia have the potential to be employed, said Welfare Ministry representative Elīna Celmiņā.

"This will help bring people closer to work and give employers the opportunity to find motivated people here who want to work.. A disabled person can [work]. Maybe they do it a little differently, but they do it. They can be useful for employers. They want, are motivated and are looking for work. And sometimes [the employer] needs to be a little more open, to adjust a little, to see, to give a chance, and to change the perception of what a disabled person can do," said Celmiņa.
