"For the duration of the repair works, traffic restrictions have been introduced on 70 sections of national highways. We invite drivers to observe the traffic restrictions in them and not to drive in reverse at red lights - this creates dangerous situations, endangering both motorists and those working in the construction work zone, violators also create traffic jams in places where it is impossible for transport to change, resulting in even greater delays on the road," said LVC.
🚦Aicinām autovadītājus nebraukt reversās kustības posmos pie sarkanās gaismas–tas rada bīstamas situācijas, apdraudot gan autobraucējus, gan darbu zonā strādājošos, pārkāpēji arī veido sastrēgumus vietās, kur transportam nav iespējams samainīties. Plašāk👇https://t.co/m5dhzQAkMx

Anyone who has lined up at a roadworks red light is probably familiar wit a range of banzai behavior from motorists, ranging from taking off before the green light shows, overtaking while lining up and ignoring a red light completely to simply driving on a section of road still under construction in order to avoid a contraflow section – and plenty more besides.
One current hotpot for such activity is the Alūksne–Ape (P39) highway from Alsvikai to Galdusil (km 7.92–14.99) which contains five sets of traffic lights, each lasting several minutes which can add up to 50 minutes to travel times.
"When setting out, we invite you to take a look at the construction work map on the website of LVC (www.lvceli.lv www.lvceli.lv), where information is available on all stages of construction work and their restrictions, and to plan additional time on the road if you have to cross the construction site," said LVC.
