"The aim of 'Rail Baltica in Economic Focus' is to inform and to engage Rail Baltica partners, suppliers, and followers so that they are well informed about the progress that is being made in the project, as well as the potential of the project for serving as an engine for economic growth in the region. It brings together key contributors such as Rail Baltica strategy experts, transport economy analysts, logistics specialists and other experts in the industry," said a press release.
The first edition includes information about urban regeneration in Baltic capitals, the construction market in the Baltic States, fluctuations in the cost of materials and construction, and freight logistics trends.
As previously reported, Rail Baltica is a major infrastructure project that aims to construct a high-speed, European-gauge rail link between the Baltic capitals and the Polish border. Originally budgeted at 5.8 billion euros and originally due to open in 2026, the target date has now been put back to 2030 and the construction costs are likely to be higher than planned.
