Free public transport in Rīga on November 18

On November 18, Latvia's Independence Day, all passengers will be able to travel free of charge on Rīga's public buses, trolleybuses and trams, the company Rīgas Satiksme said.

Public transport will also run according to the holiday timetable. There may be temporary restrictions on public transport during certain periods when events are taking place in the city.

At 7:30 am, a procession of Latvian Student Corporations from the University of Latvia to the Brethren Cemetery will take place. The march will take place along the route Raiņa Boulevard, Brīvības Boulevard, Brīvības Street, Cēsu Street, Mēness Street, Miera Street, Klusā Street, Miera Street, Brasa overpass, Gaujas Street, Aizsaules Street, Brethren Cemetery.

If necessary, the State Police will temporarily restrict traffic along the route of the march.

At 13.30, a military parade of the National Armed Forces will take place on the 11. novembra Embankment. 11. novembra Embankment, Strēlnieku Square, Kaļķu Street, Brīvības boulevard, Brīvības Street, Bruņinieku Street, Sporta Street, Skanstes Street. Military equipment route: 11. novembra Embankment, Generāļa Radziņa Embankment to Salu Bridge.

Traffic will be regulated and closed by the State Police during the parade and procession. Transport crossing the parade route may deviate from the planned timetable.

At 18.00 a torchlight procession will take place along the route from the Kārlis Ulmanis monument on Rainis Boulevard, along Rainis Boulevard, K. Barona Street, Aspazijas Boulevard, Z. A. Meierovica Boulevard, K. Valdemāra Street, Raiņa Boulevard. Approximate duration of the walk is 1 hour.

Traffic will be regulated and closed by the State Police during the march. Routes crossing the march route may deviate from the planned timetable.

On Monday, November 18, you will be able to use Riga City Council paid parking spaces on the sides of streets served by Rīgas Satiksme free of charge. Underground parking at 5A K. Valdemāra Street will be charged according to the current tariffs.
