One person died in a collision between three trucks on the A10 Rīga-Ventspils highway not far from Tukums. State Police said that the accident happened around 10:00 and one of the trucks caught fire after the collision.
Traffic is completely blocked and motorists are advised to take a lengthy detour using the V1442 Tukums–Lazda road.

It is the latest incident in a tragic week on Latvian roads. On Tuesday, June 25, there were two car accidents with victims on the Riga-Liepāja highway in Saldus county. In one of them, in Blīdene parish, three people died, and in the other, in Zirņu parish, one person died.
On Wednesday, June 26, another tragic accident took place on the same road in Blīdene parish in which 2 people died in a head-on collision.
On Friday afternoon another incident was reported on the main A1 Via Baltica not far from the Estonian border which reduced traffic to a single lane for several hours, but by early evening both lanes were again open.
