Expect jams when exiting Rīga Wednesday evening

Take note – story published 1 year ago

Before the Midsummer holiday, traffic jams are expected on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning when exiting Rīga, Latvian State Roads said June 22.

As usual, traffic in Rīga vicinity will be slow and congestion is possible, asking the public to allocate additional time and choose the hours when traffic is not as intensive.

Particularly slow traffic can be where there are roadworks, along Ērgļi highway, in the direction of Jelgava and Ventspils, as well as in the direction of Bauska and towards the sea. Intensive traffic is also possible on Rīga bypass routes Baltezers-Saulkalne (A4) and Salaspils-Babīte (A5).

On the state road network, repairs take place on more than 80 road sections. In areas where this is possible, traffic restrictions will be reduced during holidays to facilitate movement. However, for the most part, traffic restrictions will remain in place and drivers have to count on them.

You can see the map of roadworks on the Latvian State Roads website.
