Latvian postal service warns of delivery delays with staff getting ill

Take note – story published 2 years ago

Over 130 employees of Latvian postal service (LP) involved in delivery are currently ill with Covid-19 so delivery processes are delayed throughout the country, LP spokeswoman Gundega Vārpa said January 26.

Under these circumstances, some postal departments have changed their working hours and several departments will be temporarily closed. Delays are likely to occur across most of Latvia. Most affected are the activities of post offices in Riga and its vicinity, and in the Zemgale and Kurzeme region.

If the number of infected people and contact persons continues to grow, it is likely that the postal service will have to shorten the working hours of more postal departments and some will have to be combined.

Delays also occur due to LP striving to separate flows of employees so a lot of shifts are taking place in the schedule.
