Low-cost airline starts flights to Bari, Reykjavik

Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air opens two new routes from the Latvian capital Riga – to Bari (Italy) and Reykjavik (Iceland) on June 26.

Flights on these routes will be performed twice a week. Wizz Air will thus be serving 11 routes in total from Riga, the company's Corporate Communications Manager Gabor Vasarhelyi said.

In 2016, Wizz Air transported a total of 476,200 passengers to and from Riga International Airport last year, which was 0.7 percent more compared to 2015.

At the moment, Wizz Air has based two airplanes at Riga Airport, while at the same time employing 70 persons, offering nine direct destinations to and from Riga.

Wizz Air is the largest low-fare airline in Central and Eastern Europe. Overall, the airline transported a total of 23 million passengers last year, which is 19% more than the previous year.
