More people reportedly fill out Covidpass forms

State Border Guard representatives told Latvian Radio December 10 that the proportion of travelers complying with the requirement to fill out Covidpass forms is increasing.

Starting this week, the State Border Guard, together with the National Armed Forces (NBS), shall carry out enhanced immigration measures on the internal borders of the State, examining whether the travelling parties have completed the questionnaire in the Covidpass.lv information system. If nearly 30 per cent had not done so at the beginning of the week, checks, this figure is decreasing after a few days of work.

Since Monday, 4547 people have been asked to prove they had filled out the form.

For the time being, no one is penalized for non-compliance, but sanctions are considered in the future if travelers still fail to comply with the requirement.

State Border Guard spokesman Ivars Ruskulis said: "At the beginning of these checks we saw that nearly 30% of the individuals had not registered in the Covidpass system, the situation has changed at present, the figure is at 23.5% on the Lithuanian border, and 14.9% on the Estonian border."

He added that explanations are also being made and that the questionnaire is designed for everyone's safety.
