Public asked to consider if they really need to use public transport

Take note – story published 3 years ago

Changes in Rīga's public transport movement due to the reduction of the COVID-19 virus took effect March 21, as previously reported by LSM.

The number of services was reduced by 20%, with passenger numbers having declined already by 50% as people stay at home. However, the Riga City Council urges residents to carefully consider if even these journeys are necessary during times of social distancing.

"As a reminder, boarding and alighting of passengers in trolleybuses and buses is organized only through the middle and rear doors. Ticket sales to the driver have also been suspended to protect them from possible Covid-19 infection. There is also intensified cleaning and daily disinfection of public transport areas," said Rīgas satiksme (Rīga Transport).
