RB Rail announces contest to find 90 experts for Rail Baltica

A tender has been announced to hire about 90 experts that will provide on-demand know-how for building the Rail Baltic rail link from the Estonian capital to the Lithuanian-Polish border.

The tender, calling for experts in areas such as architecture, spatial planning, environment, railway operation and bridge making, was announced on May 24 on the website of RB Rail. The required expertise is related to railway planning and design, and railway business.

RB Rail wants to draw the pool of experts to help plan and design the railway in 2017 and 2018. It lasts until June 29. 

The experts are to help in areas such as small scale studies and technical support, preparing procurement and managing contracts.

RB Rail is a joint venture established by the three Baltic states for coordination of Rail Baltic/Rail Baltica project for construction of the European-gauge railroad that would link Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania with the rest of Europe.

The key goal of the project is to renew regional integration by re-joining the Baltic states with the European rail network.

The project will cost Latvia about €1.27b. The first part of the project acquired more than 80% in funding from the Connecting Europe Facility.
