The Baltic States' joint venture, RB Rail, has announced a two-year procurement on temporary employee hiring, according to information from the Procurement Monitoring Bureau (IUB) reported by LETA September 30.

The deadline for application is set at 29 October, estimated contract price is EUR 5.5 million,

RB Rail spokeswoman Līva Biseniece said the procurement is scheduled for two years and will be used in all three Baltic States.

Primarily, the procurement is necessary to ensure employees for short-term jobs.

Such a need arises in the project in cases where specific one-off tasks are to be carried out, as well as in situations where a rapid increase in work volume is expected, but it is not rational to create new permanent positions.

The hiring of short-term employees is also planned in cases where the selection of permanent employees takes a long time. To find railway experts, the selection of candidates takes place in both the Baltic States and elsewhere in Europe and can take up to six months.

Hiring short-term employees is a common practice in large infrastructure projects. It allows flexible planning of human resources, depending on changes in the size of work.

Biseniece pointed out that the purchase amount has been calculated on the basis of the planned amount of work in the next two years in the three Baltic States.

The planned range of specialists includes different profiles of engineers, project management and control specialists, as well as job safety and environmental specialists.
