Rīga Airport figures show partial recovery from pandemic

According to the data published on October 24 by the Central Statistical Bureau, in September 2022 passenger turnover at Riga International Airport comprised 534.4 thousand passengers.

This is 1.6 times more than in September 2021 and 6.8 % less than in the previous month. Compared to September 2019, the number of passengers at the airport was 27.4 % smaller.

The total number of flights in September was 5 009, which is 9.2 % more than a year ago.

In the nine months of this year, the number of passengers at the airport comprised 3.94 million passengers, which is 2.51 million or 2.8 times more than in the corresponding period of 2021 and 2.2 times more than in the nine months of 2020. However, that is 34 % less than in the corresponding period of 2019.

In September 2022 the total volume of cargo and mail loaded and unloaded1 comprised 1.6 thousand tonnes, which is 3.9 % more than in August, but 21.9 % less than in September 2021.

In September 0.7 thousand tonnes of cargo and mail were unloaded, which is 43.1 % less than in September 2021, but 0.9 thousand tonnes of cargo and mail were loaded, which is 8.1 % more.
