On the morning of Tuesday, January 10, ten more “Rīgas Satiksme” (Riga Transport) public buses started on their way from Rīga to Kyiv. The buses were filled with donations to Ukraine, the Rīga City Council said.

In response to the call to fill buses with donations to the residents of Kyiv, in the three days from December 28 to 30, the public donated around 50 tonnes of humanitarian aid: food, hygiene, baby care products, animal feed, warm clothing, blankets, heaters and electricity generators. In monetary terms the total value of humanitarian aid donations is around €200,000.

The buses gifted by Rīga will be delivered to the border of Ukraine and Poland by volunteer “Rīgas Satiksme” drivers.

At the end of April 2022, Riga sent the first 11 Rīgas Satiksmes buses to Kyiv, which were also filled with humanitarian aid and have become a popular and common sight on the streets of the Ukrainian capital.
