Take note – story published 2 years ago

All on-line resources related to the Russian propaganda outlet Sputnik will be blocked today, the chairman of the National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP) Ivars Āboliņš said March 3.

NEPLP has decided to block on-line resources related to Sputnik throughout the territory of Latvia, including the portal Baltnews.com.

Operators will be informed quickly of the decision, and access to these resources should be denied today.

NEPLP also decided to restrict the retransmission of the channel Bel Ros in the territory of Latvia. This channel will have to disappear with the official announcement on either Friday or Monday.

Āboliņš also said that in response to the NEPLP ban, the Russian-language social media site Odnoklassniki.ru has removed the TV channels banned in the country from its live broadcast section available in Latvia. "Our activities have achieved their goal," the head of the NEPLP said.
