Būris: How are Roma people treated in Europe?

Take note – story published 2 years ago

In the latest of the 'Būris' discussions from Brussels with LTV correspondent Ilze Nagla talks with German MEP Romeo Franz about how members of Europe's Roma community are treated.

The European Parliament (EP), with more than 700 MEPs from the 27 Member States of the European Union, representing different nations, religions and cultures, should be a model of diversity. Romeo Franz comes from a Romani ethnic minority known in Germany as the Sinti. According to Franz, institutional racism against people of Roma origin is on the rise in Europe today.

The Brussels discussions in English are bolstered by local Latvian-language debates on related issues. You can see the list of topics that will be covered at the dedicated Būris web page on LSM. These include animal welfare, multiculturalism, euthanasia, and other controversial themes.

The Būris project is co-financed by the European Union.
