Braže will be joined by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Margus Tsahkna and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Egidijus Meilūnas to discuss transatlantic relations, support for Ukraine and restraint of Russia, cooperation with the Indo-Pacific region and relations with global partners.
Joly is also scheduled to meet with President Edgars Rinkēvičs and she will participate in an awards ceremony for Canadian soldiers, who will be presented with certificates, as well as awarded with a special NATO service medal.
The NATO multinational brigade in Latvia is currently led by Canada. It consists of more than 3,500 soldiers from 13 countries: Albania, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, Iceland, Canada, Latvia, Montenegro, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and North Macedonia. At the beginning of 2025, 600 soldiers of the Swedish Armed Forces are due to be sent to Latvia as well.
