February 13 saw Rīga hosting political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Estonia.

The Undersecretary of State, Political Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Andžejs Viļumsons, and the Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Kyllike Sillaste-Elling, discussed topics related to the security of the Baltic States, preparations for the NATO summit in Vilnius, further support for Ukraine, and the EU sanctions against Russia, as well as reviewing other global challenges.

"The partners in talks were of the same opinion that it was highly essential to strengthen cooperation in various formats, including coordination concerning topics on the global agenda. Dialog should be promoted with third countries. It is of special importance in response to the impact of Russia’s war in Ukraine and to reduce the risks of circumventing sanctions against Russia," said the Ministry's summary of the meeting.
