Latvia and Russia compare notes in Moscow

On 12 December 2019, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Andris Pelšs, held political consultations with the First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Titov, the ministry said in a news release.

"The consultations covered a broad range of bilateral and regional cooperation topics: the further political dialogue, the work of the Latvia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission, cooperation on business-related topics, a legal framework for bilateral relations, security climate in the region, as well as other foreign policy issues of current importance, including those on the agenda in international organisations," the ministry said.

The political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Latvia and Russia are a regular format for discussions of matters of bilateral and practical cooperation and current issues on the international policy agenda.

Political consultation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and the Russian Federation have been held since 2013. The previous meeting of the State Secretary and the First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs took place two years ago on 14 November 2017 in Rīga.
