"The consultations covered a broad range of topics concerning bilateral and regional cooperation: the further political dialogue, current work of the Latvia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission, the enhancement of the legal framework, cooperation on economic matters, the security situation in the region, and other foreign policy issues," the release said.
Political consultation between the Foreign Ministries of Latvia and Russia, launched in 2013, is a regular format for discussions on bilateral cooperation and international policy developments of current importance. In accordance with the inter-ministerial cooperation plan, consultations take place at the level of deputy foreign ministers and the directors of regional and consular departments.
