Riga Conference at the end of September

Take note – story published 6 years ago

Organizers of the annual Riga Conference have published the program for this year's get-together at the Latvian National Library on September 29-30.

Organised jointly by the Latvian Transatlantic Organisation, the Latvian Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, it describes itself as "one of the leading security and defence forums in the region providing a high-level debate platform and valuable networking opportunities."

It is a day and a half of talks about geopolitical issues, with complimentary drinks and off-the-record talks on the evening of the first day. Many of the attendees return year after year.

The first Riga Conference took place in 2006.

Russia usually features prominently in the subjects discussed and this year will be no exception.

Latvian taxpayers contribute 70,000 euros to stage the conference and an allied youth event on September 28, the Future Leaders Forum.

A detailed program of The Riga Conference, together with the list of participants is available at www.rigaconference.lv.

The sessions will be streamed online.

Here is a promotional video for this year's event.
