Rinkēvičs: Serbia must back EU on Ukraine or forget further integration

If Serbia does not adopt the guidelines and directions of action of the European Union (EU), Latvia will not support the country's further integration process into the EU, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics (New Unity) posted on his Twitter account March 13.

"EU candidate countries must adopt EU foreign policy guidelines and directions of action, if Serbia does not do so, especially in the context of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, then Latvia will not support further integration of Serbia into the EU and the negotiation process," Rinkēvičs wrote.

Several foreign media have reported that since the EU banned Russian airlines from using EU airspace, the Serbian airline Air Serbia has doubled its flights to Russia and is currently helping citizens of the aggressor country get into the EU. Belgrade has also been the scene of demonstrations in support of Russia's aggression against its neighbor.
