Ukraine removes Latvia from tax haven watch list

Take note – story published 6 years ago

Diplomatic efforts appeared to pay off January 31 with Ukraine responding to Latvian demands and removing Latvia from a list of potential tax havens that threatened to complicate trade between the two countries, according to reports in Ukrainian media.

Just one day after Latvia presented a diplomatic note to Ukraine on the issue (as reported by LSM) the authorities in Kyiv responded positively and Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics was able to tweet that he was grateful Ukraine had removed Latvia from the watch list of low-tax countries that offered potential for tax evasion.

As reported earlier by LSM, Latvia was added to the list at the end of 2017, alongside Estonia, which was also reported to have been taken off the watch list in the latest development.
