She said that there were 17 candidates for one seat at the moment even before the last three applications were submitted, while there were 14.6 candidates per seat in the previous elections.
According to Bērziņa, it is currently apparent that, compared to previous elections, there is a higher proportion of women among candidates, while the average age is quite unchanged, slightly above 46. The youngest candidate is 21 years old, while the oldest is 92 years old.
On Tuesday, August 2, the CVK will stop accepting the lists of candidates for the 14th Parliamentary elections. Three more parties are expected to present the lists today, with a total of 19 lists announced for the Saeima elections.
