Political party state financing frozen for next year

State funding for political parties cannot increase next year and will be frozen, Prime Minister Evika Siliņa (New Unity) announced on Friday, September 6, on the website "X".

The coalition partners have already endorsed this proposal.

Austerity has required ministries to plan how to cut spending. In late August, the government decided to introduce austerity measures in the public sector - limiting spending on goods and services, capping salary increases, and freezing the number of posts in state and municipal institutions.

It also plans to introduce tax changes to find extra money for the budget priority of security. On Friday, September 6, the Ministry of Finance announced that the personal income tax, the minimum wage, and the non-taxable minimum will increase next year.
