Bauska to turn against former councilor for squandering funds on festival

The Bauska City Council has decided to turn to court against former council member and head of culture center Jānis Dūmiņš for the overspending of funds on the festival Taste, LETA reports October 9.

The city council said that the Bauska Culture festival Taste 2024 had been allocated EUR 249,620.

Later, in accordance with the contracts signed by Bauska Culture center, the municipality allocated another EUR 131,803.

A service investigation has been launched on the matter, as the ticket revenue did not reach the predicted level. According to the municipality, head of the Culture center Jānis Dūmiņš acted not in accordance with normative regulations and took up more obligations than expected so the expenditure was exceeded by EUR 41,027.

Dūmiņš laid down his deputy mandate in September and also left his job at the Culture center.
