Siliņa stressed that Latvia maintains constant support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
The Prime Minister, along with a number of leaders of other countries, has gone to the international Crimean platform, the purpose of which is to remind the international arena of Russia's crimes and the illegal occupation of the Crimean peninsula ten years ago.
Latvia has already started preparing the military support package for 2025, said Siliņa. It will include brand new "Patria" armored personnel carriers, deliveries of drones, ammunition, as well as shipments of soldiers' individual equipment and provision or training 4,000 troops. It is expected that Latvia will train a similar number of Ukrainian soldiers in 2025 as well.
The Prime Minister assured that Latvia will continue to support Ukraine, providing military support equivalent to 0.25% of gross domestic product (GDP) per year, or more than 100 million euros. Total support for Ukraine in 2024 will exceed 200 million euros.
"Crimea is Ukraine, and Ukraine will win, but Russia will lose in this terrible war," said Siliņa.
In addition to military support, Latvia also continues to support the civilian population, both by providing assistance to children and women affected by the war, by giving generators, solar panels to homes and especially helping the Chernihiv region.
Silina, together with the leaders of other countries, had a meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy who thanked the allies for attending the Crimean summit and for their unfailing support.
