Demoted State Chancellery's director to depart

Jānis Citskovskis, former director of the State Chancellery, who has been demoted in connection with the special flight case, will leave work at this institution, the agency LETA reported July 15.

Last week, Citskovskis turned to the Prime Minister about his demotion. He requested that he be transferred to a post commensurate with experience, knowledge and practice, but, if that is not possible, he requested the termination of his employment relationship with him.

The Cabinet of Ministers press secretary Santa Jirgensone confirmed to LETA that such a submission has been received and the employment relationship with Citskovskis will be terminated.

In a closed session on July 9, the government decided to demote the Director of the State Chancellery Jānis Citskovskis about violations in the private flights case of former Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš (New Unity). Prime Minister Evika Siliņa (New Unity) announced after the meeting of the government that Citskovskis has been offered the position of Head of Economic Security Division of the State Chancellery.

Meanwhile, Citskovskis said he would not accept “humilating offers.”
