According to Ķirsis, parties or political groups with similar views should consolidate as much as possible.
"I will not hide that we are currently negotiating with "Code for Riga" and the "Par" movement. There have been talks and meetings. The process is ongoing. I can't say yet how the process will end, but there is progress," Ķirsis admitted.
According to him, the challenge in these elections is the same as the previous ones – to thwart the ambitions of rival parties "Stability!" and "Latvia In First Place".
"We must not go back in that direction. We have to agree that Riga still has a lot to do, but we have been able to turn Rīga's course in the right direction. Five years ago, there was complete distrust from European lenders, banks, let alone investors, also the management of capital companies was subject to every possible criticism. Now it has changed," claimed the mayor of the Latvia capital city.
Ķirsis indicated that, depending on the results of the elections, "Jaunā Vienotība" would be ready to work in a coalition with several other parties, too.
He ruled out cooperation with the Latvian Russian Union and the Harmony parties as a possibility.
Municipal elections take place every four years during the first week of June. The next municipal elections will take place in 2025.
