Half a year after his election to the office of Latvian president, Raimonds Vejonis is enjoying a positive job approval rating, which is much higher than that of his predecessor Andris Berzins, the latest survey by "Latvijas Fakti" pollster shows.

Vejonis' job performance was approved by 70 percent of respondents in the December poll, with 28.7 percent fully approving of the president's performance and 42 percent tending to approve it.

Meanwhile, 2.9 percent of respondents voiced negative opinions about Vejonis' job performance, 6.1 percent tended to disapprove of his job performance, and 20 percent did not have a definitive opinion about Vejonis' performance.

Vejonis' rating has been climbing ever since his election to the presidential office, with the percentage of respondents approving of his performance rising from 37.6 percent just after his election in June to 55.2 percent a month later, to 60.6 percent in August and 62 percent in September.
