This comes after the party wavered, not voicing clear support for Vējonis' second term.
"We support him, and we have never distanced ourselves from the president. That is all there is to it," said Kučinskis.
Earlier Kučinskis had told LTV that the party is not reviewing any other candidates, but a representative of his later backtracked the comments, saying it's not important to name a presidential candidate now.
Vējonis' first term runs out in 2019. The president is elected in a closed parliamentary vote, the only of its kind in the Saeima, but currently the parliament is considering amendments to the Constitution to make the vote open.
The president is elected for a term of four years.
