If the general elections had been held in September, Harmony would have got 19.6 percent of votes, up from 18 percent in August, according to SKDS data, as reported by LTV's Panorama evening news program on October 3.
Meanwhile the Unity party managed to increase its popularity rating in September, raising it above the 5-percent electoral threshold. Unity's rating increased 1.2 percentage points in September after dropping to the historically lowest level of 4.2 percent in August as a result of internecine warfare among its ranks.
However the figures show new leader Andris Piebalgs still has his work cut out to reach his declared target of 10 percent support by the end of the year.
Two other parties in the ruling coalition lost some popularity in September. The Greens and Farmers Union of prime minister Maris Kucinskis fell one percentage point from 18 percent in August to 17 percent in September, and the rating of the National Alliance decreased from 9.3 percent in August to 8.8 percent in September.
The rating of KPV LV, the new political party founded by renegade MP Artuss Kaimins, stayed firmly above the 5-percent threshold with 5.8 percent of voters supporting the new party in September compared to 5.3 percent in August.
As for the two other small opposition parties currently represented in Saeima, both have slightly improved their ratings compared to August but remain below the 5 percent threshold. The Latvian Regiona alliance was supported by 3.1 percent of voters in September, and For Latvia From The Heart had the support of 3 percent of voters.
