Latvia condemns Turkey terror attack

Latvian officials were quick on January 1 to condemn an apparent terror attack in Turkey that has claimed dozens of lives.

The attack by a gunman at a nightclub in Istanbul is believed t jave killed 39 people with 69 more wounded.

A Foreign Ministry statement said Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs, on behalf of Latvia, offered condolences to Turkey. 

"The Foreign Minister expresses deepest sympathy with the families and friends of those who died and wishes a rapid recovery to the injured," the statement said.
