The Cabinet of Ministers met in a special extraordinary session to support the order prepared by the Ministry of the Interior "On the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Republic of Turkey", which envisages providing humanitarian assistance to Turkey through the European Union's Civil Protection Mechanism, allocating 200,000 euros for assistance.
As part of the package, 5,000 blankets will be sent from reserves to the victims of the earthquake, as well as heated tents adapted to winter conditions and various types of technical equipment.
The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) in cooperation with the National Armed Forces will organize the preparation of the humanitarian aid shipment, and in cooperation with the Turkish Embassy in Latvia, its delivery to Turkey.
In addition, from February 7 to 25, Senior Lieutenant of the State Fire and Rescue Department, Kristīne Fedotova, is in Turkey as one of the 11 members of the European Union (EU) civil protection expert team providing support to the Turkish authorities.
