Latvian government backs EUR 11.9 billion as budget base spending

The Finance Ministry presented a report on the base basic budget and base special budget of 2022 at the government meeting August 24.

The plan provides that base budget expenditure in the 2022 consolidated budget will amount to EUR 11.886 billion.

Base expenditure in the basic budget has been projected at EUR 8.741 billion in 2022 and EUR 8.568 billion in 2023. Base expenditure has been increased by EUR 668.1 million for 2022 and by EUR 732.3 million for 2023. For 2024, the base expenditure has been set at EUR 8.543 billion.

Base expenditure in the special budget has been projected at EUR 3.387 billion in 2022, EUR 3.541 billion in 2023, and EUR 3.772 billion in 2024. The base expenditure has been increased by EUR 160.9 million in 2022, EUR 159.9 million in 2023, EUR 390.6 million in 2024.

These figures are still the initial estimates, as talks are still to begin in the government and the final vote has to be cast by the Saeima.
