Latvian historian expelled from Belarus

On April 8 Belarus expelled Juris Ciganovs, the deputy head of the Latvian Museum of War, from the country.

Ciganovs had gone to Belarus to take part in an international conference but did not make it past the border. He was deported to Vilnius.

He confirmed the news to LTV.

Ciganovs was travelling to Minsk after an invitation by the Belarusian party, but at the airport he learned that he won't be allowed into the country as he is apparently on the Russian blacklist, which applies to Belarus as well.
