Take note – story published 6 years ago

Defense Minister Raimonds Bergmanis has made Viesturs Silenieks the new Parliamentary Secretary at the Defense Ministry.

Silenieks, coming from the same Greens and Farmers Union party as Bergmanis, will assume his post on June 29 replacing Andrejs Panteļējevs.

The Defense Minister did not comment the cadre change when he appeared on Latvian Radio. However Panteļējevs will step down 'on mutual agreement', the ministry told the press.

Since 2012 Silenieks had been working at the Riga Free Port taking various high-level managerial posts.

He had also worked as an adviser to the Environment Minister and political adviser to the Saeima speaker.
