Health Minister Daniels Pavļuts said that it is likely to be decided on tougher restrictions, as the latest restrictions have not given the expected effect.
"The first data and expert conclusions on the impact of the restrictions introduced have come in. The reduction in contacts is 5-10%, much less than planned when introducing the emergency. Forecasts are worse than a week ago. There needs to be a significantly greater reduction in contacts," Pavļuts wrote on Twitter.

"Initial data relating to mobility from Google resources, traffic company sightings on flows, State Police observations on public gatherings have come in. And compliance with the measures. The summary conclusion is that, at best, the reduction in contacts caused by the state of emergency is 5-10%. On the other hand, as has already been said, what we should do to stop this increase in the morbidity curve and to protect hospitals from overload is [reduce contacts by] around 40%. This means that the measures put in place are not working like they should work," Pavļuts said in an interview to Latvian Television on Sunday evening.
Restrictions could affect the education sector, services, and people's movement.
LSM already reported that doctors spoke out publicly against the current restrictions, saying they will not bring the desired results.
