Four parties have agreed to officially form a new coalition to control Rīga City Council.

In the third and final one-on-one round of discussions with individual parties today, the presumptive new mayor of Riga, Mārtiņš Stakis (For/Development/Progressives) came to terms on an agreement with New Unity, after also coming to terms earlier in the day with the National Alliance/Association of Regions and the New Conservative Party.

For/Development/Progressives will take the post of Riga mayor, which will be taken by Stakis. At the same time, the largest group at the Riga City Council will also take chairmanship of the Finance and Administrative Affairs Committee, and Education, Culture and Sports Committee, the Social Affairs Committee, and the Housing and Environment Committee.

New Unity, in turn, will take the post of Riga vice mayor, as well as chair the City Development Committee, as well as the Traffic and Transportation Committee.

The National Alliance/Association of Regions will take the second vice mayor post, as well as chair the City Property Committee.

Meanwhile, the New Conservative Party will take the third vice mayor post, and chair the Security, Order and Corruption Prevention Committee. These posts have been merged into one, and will be taken by the leader of the New Conservative Party's list Linda Ozola.

This coalition will thus have 39 seats in the 60-seat Riga City Council.
