Party ratings for April show plenty to fight for in local elections

Take note – story published 2 years ago

The latest party ratings for April show an increasing popularity of the right-of-center party National Alliance, followed by the Union of Greens and Farmers as well as New Unity.

KPV LV is currently not among the most popular parties. On the other hand, non-parliamentary left-leaning party Progresīvie (Progressives) continues to show good results.

At the request of Latvian Television (LTV), the research agency SKDS conducted its monthly survey, asking respondents which party they would vote for if Saeima elections were held tomorrow. As usual the opposition Harmony party commands the largest support (12%).

The right-leaning National Alliance, part of the current ruling coalition, is in second place (8%) with third place taken by the opposition Greens and Farmers Union (7.7%) and government party New Unity (7%) just behind it in fourth.

The Progressives' ratings also climbed slightly in April, as seen throughout the year. Newly founded Law and Order and the Russian Union of Latvia are gradually approaching the Progressives.

Then followed by the incumbent New Conservatives – 3.9%. The penultimate seat is held by the Latvian Regional Alliance – 2% and the survey is closed by “KPV LV”.

As usual, by far the largest number of responses came under the categories "Don't know" (20.1%) and "No intention to vote" (20.1%) which suggest that politicians still have plenty of work to do if they are to get the public interested in local government elections on June 5.
