The coalition is currently formed by JV, the National Alliance, For Development/For!, and the Conservatives.
Cooperation is not possible with pro-Kremlin forces, the Prime Minister said.
Meanwhile, in response to a potential collaboration with the Progressives, which, according to polls, could have a chance to get into the 14th Saeima, the JV leader said that he had not read their program sufficiently, but that he had nothing negative to say about the Progressives' politicians he knew. At the same time, Kariņš said that the progressives have defined themselves as social democrats, and the question is “how far to the left, when they come to the Saeima, will their actual policy be ”.
“I suspect that, on certain points, we could have major discussions before we came to the common denominator,” said the current PM.
Also on the potential cooperation with the newly formed “United List” (Apvienotais saraksts), Kariņš replied evasively, adding that if this political force is elected, much will be determined by what will be the Saeima members of the United List.
On the other hand, he categorically rejects cooperation with the Union of Greens and Farmers, with which the JV has previously worked together in a number of governments.
"They have chosen Aivars Lembergs as their Prime Minister's nominee, who has stated that NATO troops in Latvia are occupant forces, and who is an individual under sanctions from our strategic partner - the US - for corruption and have been convicted in the trial for the same.
"I cannot imagine any European country where such a candidate would be seriously offered. It's something of a peculiarity that we have a political force who seems to want to offer a candidate like that, even with pride. I don't see how I could cooperate with them in such circumstances," the JV leader said.
