President and PM offer Easter messages

Take note – story published 8 years ago

Latvian President Andris Berzins and Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma offered their thoughts at Easter time Thursday ahead of the long Easter weekend.

In an Easter message to media, Straujuma said:

"Easter is a time for contemplation when we reassess the progress made and look at ourselves again - what to continue and what to start from scratch; how to clean up our spiritual backyard.

"It does not matter whether we celebrate Easter according to Christian traditions or ancient Latvian traditions - at Easter we all expect rebirth and a new beginning."

For his part, President Berzins said:

"Easter time is filled with the spirit of faith and the rebirth of life. Easter reminds us of the cyclical nature of life and the joy that comes with the return of the sun. Our life force is within us, we each have our own source of inspiration and faith," before wishing everyone a "family-oriented and happy Easter".

And a very happy Easter to all readers of LSM too!
