Citizens of Russia had been receiving passports in which Crimea featured as a Russian territory already in December 2013, months before Russia annexed the peninsula, reported UNIAN news agency.
The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry has obtained evidence to prove this, the Lithuanian Embassy in Kiev said. The embassy said that the Lithuanian consulate in the Russian Kaliningrad region rejected a visa application from a Russian citizen whose passport specified the Republic of Crimea as part of Russia as his place of birth.
The passport was issued in December of 2013 to a Russian citizen born in 1992.
Russia annexed Ukraine's Crimea region in March of 2014. In the wake of the step, the Western world took sanctions against Moscow.
