Gaidis Berzins, Co-chairman of the nationalist National Alliance party, said after the meeting of the ruling coalition parties today that Interior Minister Rohards Kozlovskis (Unity party) was to report to the coalition partners about admission of asylum seekers under the EU wide refugee relocation scheme in two weeks.
The National Alliance suggested that the ruling coalition parties should look into the situation with asylum seekers following contradictory reports about how many people had been relocated to Latvia, how many had been granted international protection and how many of them had immediately moved on to Germany.
As previously reported, several factors appear to be impacting Latvia's refugee plan including the cold weather, language difficulties, low benefit payments and difficulties in the job and housing markets.
Latvia has one center for the reception of asylum seekers and refugees, at Mucenieki on the outskirts of Riga.
