Support for the candidate nominated by New Unity, the long-standing foreign minister Edgars Rinkēvičs, has been expressed by 22% in the survey, but nearly as many – 21% – support the candidate of the United List, the entrepreneur Uldis Pīlēns.
The diaspora activist Elīna Pinto nominated by Progressives is supported by 10% of the respondents.
The survey took place between May 17 and May 21. 1,005 respondents were surveyed.
Meanwhile, on LTV's program "Today's Question" on the evening of May 24, the NATO Strategic Communications Excellence Center (STRATCOMCOE) Director Jānis Sārts stated that no attempts by the Kremlin to influence the presidential elections have been observed.
"In general, we all understand that Russian hands are very busy with what is happening in the war going on inside Russia. We have seen that the opportunities that would otherwise be used on the Russian side have not been used," said Sārts.
"If there was a chance to nudge it in some way, if there were resources, perhaps they would try it. But this time I don't really see it, and if I'm honest, I don't expect it because they just don't have the resources," said Sārts.
