On Thursday, April 7, Latvian President Egils Levits will pay a working visit to the Republic of Moldova to discuss with the President of Moldova Ms. Maia Sandu the current geopolitical and security situation, the strengthening of relations between the two countries, and Moldova's European integration reforms.

But in a break with the usual procedure on such trips, Levits will take the opportunity to deliver humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian Refugee Center in Chisinau. Latvia's humanitarian aid cargo, provided in co-operation with Latvian non-governmental organizations and companies, includes food and hygiene goods.

The President will be accompanied by Minister of the Interior Marija Golubeva and Chief of the Latvian Border Guard General Guntis Pujāts, who will meet with their Moldovan counterparts,

The Latvian airline airBaltic has also stepped up by providing seats on the flight back to Rīga for Ukrainian refugees.

The itinerary also includes a meeting with members of the Latvian diaspora in Moldova and the planting of a tree at Chisinau Botanical Gardens.
