On Tuesday, February 14, President Egils Levits will address the members of the European Parliament (EP) plenary session in Strasbourg about Ukraine's place in Europe and Russia's responsibility for the crimes committed.

The President's speech is scheduled to take place at 12:30 Latvian time and will be livestreamed here: https://multimedia.europarl.europa.eu/lv/webstreaming/plenary-session_20230214-0900-PLENARY

"It will be a real honor for me to address the European Parliament in Strasbourg as a representative of the public opinion of all European citizens. In this difficult time for European security, I will address MEPs mainly about Ukraine's place in Europe, about our joint fight against Russian aggression in Ukraine and Russia's responsibility before international law. I will also talk about threats to democracy and about strengthening democracy," said President Levits before the visit.

"I am honored that the President of Latvia will address the European Parliament shortly before the first anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. From the very first day, Latvia has been a leader and with its unwavering support has helped shape European Union (EU) policy. European unity will be essential to hold Russia accountable and end the war. I am convinced that Latvia will continue to play a decisive role in the decisive actions of the EU," said EP chairperson Roberta Metsola ahead of the session.
