President Levits marks 60th anniversary of OECD

Latvian President Egils Levits participates in an online event December 14 marking the 60th anniversary of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Levits takes part in a panel at with the title "The case for collective action: multilateralism in the current global context" alongside the presidents of Costa Rica and Lithuania.

"This panel will address the need for greater international co-operation in the response to the COVID-19 crisis and the recovery, focusing on the challenges and opportunities for multilateralism in the current global context. The discussion will cover key priorities for addressing the pandemic and its consequences and preparing for the recovery (e.g. vaccine development and distribution, international mobility, global value chains, co-ordination of economic policies, debt relief initiatives, etc.)," said advance publicity material.

Latvia joined the OECD on 1 July 2016, becoming its 35th full member.
