"Christmas is the time of the year when our thoughts turn brighter and we all await for the long-since cherished fulfillment of our hopes. I ask everyone to believe in the Christmas Miracle and to participate in creating it," Latvia's President Raimonds Vējonis said in his Christmas address.

As Latvia's centennial is approaching, the president asks for everyone to think about what each of us wants to do and can do for Latvia, the President's Chancery reported.

One of the chances to do so, according to the president, is donating your time for organizing Latvia's centennial, which you can do on the lv100.lv website so that it becomes a celebration for all the folk.

The president said that Christmas time gives a wonderful chance to listen to others more and to say good things to one another and to be grateful for what's been done - a thing we forget in our day-to-day lives.

"The brightest celebration of the year is a drive for us – let's spread kindness, peace of mind, and happiness in this time!" the president said.

President Raimonds Vējonis wishes all Latvians and nationals abroad a Christmas full of peace, love and understanding.
